Built Around Island Conditions

Docks, Seawalls & Marine Construction on Pine Island

Custom marine construction built around your property, your boat, and the way you navigate Pine Island waterways.

Pine Island properties often have a direct relationship with the water, from residential canals to larger waterways around St. James City and Bokeelia.

An island property can present its own construction challenges. Existing docks and seawalls, limited access, canal width, water depth, staging, and the intended vessel all need to be considered before construction starts.

WB Williamson Bros. builds and repairs docks, installs boat lifts, constructs and repairs seawalls, builds tiki huts, and provides marine contracting throughout Pine Island and Southwest Florida.

Pine Island Marine Projects Have to Work With the Property

A Pine Island dock project can look straightforward from shore and still involve several construction variables.

The existing seawall may determine where a dock can connect to the property. Canal width and water depth can affect the boat lift and dock configuration. Access for equipment and materials may also require more planning than a typical mainland construction site.

Those details become especially important across Pine Island’s different communities. St. James City properties can have direct relationships with Pine Island Sound and surrounding waterways, while Bokeelia and Pineland properties present their own combinations of canal, shoreline, and access conditions.

How We Approach Marine Construction on Pine Island

A marine project starts with understanding the property, the water, the existing structures, and the practical requirements of getting the work done.

Property Consultation

We start by reviewing the property, the existing dock or seawall, the boat, the shoreline type, river or canal access, and what you want the finished project to accomplish.

Once we understand the site, we develop the layout, lift location, materials, walkway length, access approach, and any additional features included in the project.

The project scope, materials, specifications, and selections are reviewed before the project moves into permitting and construction.

Many Pine Island properties are in unincorporated Lee County, where marine structures are handled through the county’s Dock and Shoreline permitting process. The current county guide covers docks, boat lifts, ramps, davits, boathouses, fishing piers, observation decks, floating docks, mooring pilings, seawalls, riprap, dune walkovers, wetland boardwalks, and other shoreline structures. The permit application also distinguishes between artificial canals and natural waterbodies, and identifies separate permit categories for structures such as docks, boat lifts, seawalls, riprap and repairs.

For a dock, Lee County’s current submission guidance calls for a site plan showing the proposed structure, riparian lines, slips or dimensions, side setbacks, and the width of the navigable channel or artificial waterbody. Boat lift applications require manufacturer details specific to the proposed lift and identification of whether electrical work is included. Seawall applications require a site plan and construction details. Commercial, industrial and multifamily projects can require additional development-order and professionally sealed construction documentation.

WB Williamson Bros. coordinates the permitting associated with our projects and works through the required approvals before construction begins.

Once the required approvals are in place, our crews mobilize to the property. Work may include demolition, piling installation, framing, decking, boat lift installation, plumbing, electrical, and other project specific components.
At completion, required inspections are addressed and the finished project is reviewed before turnover.
THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE WORK

Built on Four Generations of Construction

WB Williamson Bros. has served Southwest Florida since 1996 and brings four generations of construction experience to its marine work. Pine Island properties can present practical construction challenges involving canal access, existing docks and seawalls, water depth, staging, and the logistics of working around an island property. Our team plans around those conditions rather than treating every marine project the same.

Experience With Island Properties

Pine Island projects can involve canal access, limited staging areas, existing marine structures, and different shoreline conditions between communities such as St. James City, Bokeelia and Pineland. Planning around those conditions is part of developing the project scope.

What To Know Before You Build

Pine Island Marine Construction FAQs

Can you replace an existing dock on Pine Island?

Yes. We can evaluate the existing structure and determine whether repair, partial replacement, redecking, or a complete rebuild makes sense. The condition of the pilings, framing, decking and connections all factor into that decision.

It can. Canal width, water depth, boat dimensions, lift location, existing structures and the way the vessel approaches the dock can all affect the final configuration.

Potentially. The existing dock needs to be evaluated along with the vessel specifications, available water, proposed lift location and structural requirements.

In unincorporated Lee County, docks and shoreline structures are handled through the county’s Dock and Shoreline permit process. The county’s current guide covers docks, boat lifts, seawalls, riprap and related shoreline structures, with project-specific documentation requirements.

Yes. Planning both together can help coordinate shoreline work, piling placement, dock attachment, access and the construction sequence.

Yes. Tiki huts can be incorporated into a broader dock or outdoor marine project when the property and applicable requirements allow.
