Custom Seawall Construction & Repair on Fort Myers Beach
A seawall is part of the property’s shoreline structure. When it begins to crack, lean, settle, or allow soil to move behind it, the effects can extend beyond the wall itself.
Fort Myers Beach properties also have to contend with coastal conditions that differ from an inland canal. Tidal water, storm exposure, active waterways, existing docks, shoreline conditions, and limited construction access can all affect how a seawall project needs to be planned.
WB Williamson Bros. builds and repairs seawalls throughout Fort Myers Beach and Southwest Florida, including new construction, repairs, replacement work, concrete seawall panels, and related marine construction.
When a Fort Myers Beach Seawall Needs Attention
Seawall deterioration does not always begin with a major failure.
A damaged cap, small crack, shifting panel, or area of erosion can be the first visible indication that something is changing along the shoreline. Storm damage can also affect several parts of the structure at once, including the wall, cap, surrounding soil, and nearby marine structures.
The property around the wall matters too.
An existing dock may be connected to the seawall. A pool, patio, or other improvement may be close to the shoreline. Equipment and materials may have limited access to the work area. These conditions can affect the repair or replacement strategy and the order in which the work needs to be performed.

Permitting
Fort Myers Beach has a dedicated Dock & Shore application for marine work that includes seawalls, retaining walls, riprap, pilings, docks, boat lifts, fishing piers and related shoreline structures. The current application requires a Florida-certified design professional to sign and seal plans for structural components. The Town also requires applicable vegetation permits when protected trees or vegetation are being removed.
Fort Myers Beach is also enforcing the FEMA 50% substantial-improvement and substantial-damage rules during plan review because structures throughout the Town are located in the Special Flood Hazard Area. The Town’s current building guidance also requires a Stormwater Pollution Protection Plan for seawalls and certain other work that disturbs land.

Evaluating a Seawall Before You Repair or Replace It
A seawall can show visible signs of deterioration before the full condition of the structure becomes obvious. On Fort Myers Beach, storm exposure, coastal water conditions, existing marine structures, and the property’s location can all affect how that deterioration develops and how repairs need to be approached.
The goal is not to treat every problem the same way. The wall, cap, surrounding soil, shoreline, attached structures, and access all need to be considered before deciding what the property actually needs.

Fort Myers Beach Seawall Construction FAQs
How do I know whether my Fort Myers Beach seawall needs repair or replacement?
Cracks, leaning panels, erosion, settling, shifting, damaged caps, and storm damage can all indicate that the wall needs evaluation. The overall condition determines the appropriate scope.
Can you repair only part of an existing seawall?
Potentially. The damaged section and condition of the surrounding wall need to be evaluated before determining whether a partial repair is appropriate.
Can storm damage affect more than the seawall itself?
Can an existing dock affect seawall replacement?
Yes. The dock can affect access, demolition, piling placement, attachment points, and the construction sequence.
Does Fort Myers Beach require a permit for seawall work?
Does the FEMA 50% rule affect seawall work?
Can a dock and seawall project be coordinated?
