Custom Seawall Construction & Repair in Bonita Springs
A seawall forms the structural edge between a Bonita Springs property and the water. When that structure begins to move, crack, settle, or allow soil to erode behind it, the condition can affect more than the wall itself.
Properties in Bonita Springs can have very different shoreline conditions depending on the waterway, existing structures, property layout, and access to the site. A dock may be connected to the wall. A pool or patio may sit close to the shoreline. Storm damage may have affected both the seawall and the property behind it.
WB Williamson Bros. builds and repairs seawalls throughout Bonita Springs and Southwest Florida, including new construction, repair, replacement and related marine construction.
Evaluating a Seawall on Your Bonita Springs Property
Seawall problems do not always begin with a major failure.
A wall may start to lean or settle gradually. Soil can begin washing out behind the structure. Cracks may appear in panels or the cap. Storm damage can affect sections of the wall while leaving other portions looking relatively normal.
That is why looking only at the visible damage can be misleading.
The condition of the seawall needs to be considered along with the shoreline, surrounding soil, existing dock, property improvements and access for construction. A repair that addresses only the most obvious problem may not address the larger condition affecting the structure.

Permitting
Bonita Springs has a dedicated Dock and Shoreline Structure Code and permit application. The current city application requires an aerial map, site plans showing the proposed work relative to riparian property lines, dimensions, side setbacks and FEMA flood zones, as well as elevations, floodway boundaries and Coastal Barrier Resources System areas. Depending on the scope, the application may also require professionally sealed construction drawings, a boundary or record survey, a benthic survey, a development order, a drainage plan and other documentation.

The Waterway Matters to the Seawall Project
Bonita Springs properties are not all exposed to the same conditions.
The Imperial River runs through the community, while surrounding properties also connect to canals and other waterways. The City has dedicated watershed and stormwater planning around the Imperial River, making drainage and local water conditions an important part of the broader environment surrounding many properties.
For a seawall project, the important question is what those conditions mean at the specific property.
Water depth, shoreline configuration, existing structures, property elevation, access and the condition of the current wall all contribute to the construction plan. The same seawall approach should not automatically be assumed for every property.

Bonita Springs Seawall Construction FAQs
Does the Imperial River affect seawall construction planning?
It can. Local water, shoreline and drainage conditions can vary between properties. The specific conditions at the property determine how they affect the construction plan.
How do I know whether my Bonita Springs seawall needs repair or replacement?
Can you repair only part of an existing seawall?
Potentially. The damaged section and surrounding portions of the wall need to be evaluated before determining whether a partial repair is practical.
Can an existing dock affect seawall replacement?
Yes. The dock can affect access, demolition, piling placement, attachment points and construction sequencing.
Does Bonita Springs require a permit for seawall work?
Yes. The city maintains a Dock and Shoreline permit process with site-plan and project-specific documentation requirements.
Can storm damage change the scope of a seawall project?
Can a dock and seawall project be coordinated?
