Marine Contracting for Port Charlotte Docks, Seawalls & Properties

A marine project can involve several structures that need to be considered together.

A dock may need to be rebuilt around an existing seawall. A new boat lift needs to fit both the vessel and dock. A storm-damaged property may need repairs to several marine structures before the project is complete.

WB Williamson Bros. provides marine contracting throughout Port Charlotte, including dock construction and repair, seawall construction and repair, boat lift installation, tiki huts and related marine work. The current Port Charlotte marine service page lists dock construction, seawall work, dock repairs, tiki hut construction and lift installation among the company’s services.

For projects involving multiple components, the important part is not simply having several services available. It is coordinating how those structures, access requirements, permitting and construction sequence fit together.

Coordinating Marine Construction on Port Charlotte Properties

Marine structures can affect one another in ways that are not always obvious when each project is considered separately.

An existing seawall may determine where a new dock can attach. The dock layout affects where a boat lift can sit. Electrical and plumbing may need to be coordinated with the structure before the decking is installed. Construction equipment and material access can also determine how the work needs to be sequenced.

This matters throughout Port Charlotte because canal properties do not all have the same water depth, available space or shoreline configuration.

When several improvements are part of the same property, the project should be planned as one connected construction effort.

FROM INITIAL REVIEW TO FINAL INSPECTION

Our Port Charlotte Marine Contracting Process

Our process starts by understanding the entire property and the work that needs to be coordinated. From there, we establish the scope, work through permitting, prepare the site, and execute the project according to the approved plan.
Property Consultation

We start by reviewing the property, the existing dock or seawall, the boat, the shoreline type, river or canal access, and what you want the finished project to accomplish.

Once we understand the site, we develop the layout, lift location, materials, walkway length, access approach, and any additional features included in the project.

The project scope, materials, specifications, and selections are reviewed before the project moves into permitting and construction.

Port Charlotte marine projects fall under Charlotte County’s permitting system when the property is in the county’s jurisdiction. The county has separate permitting categories for residential docks, boat lifts and seawalls. Current dock and boat lift applications require plans and site information, while seawall applications require plans, engineering, a site plan and survey. External state or federal approvals may also be required depending on the work.

Once the required approvals are in place, our crews mobilize to the property. Work may include demolition, piling installation, framing, decking, boat lift installation, plumbing, electrical, and other project specific components.
At completion, required inspections are addressed and the finished project is reviewed before turnover.
